In the summer 2018 issue of EcoTV, William De Vijlder and Jean-Luc Proutat debate on world economic situation, especially in Europe and in the United States.

Economic indicators were really looking strong at the beginning of the year, a trend that obviously couldn’t be extrapolated. We are currently seeing the normalisation of the business climate. Growth forecasts for the United States are still hovering around 3%. This is still robust, buoyed in part by tax cuts. Growth in the eurozone is closer to 2%. The region lags behind the United States, which is in its 9th year of expansion. The eurozone was still mired in recession in 2013, and growth only began to accelerate in 2017. We are clearly in a catching-up phase relative to the United States, and economic indicators are returning to normal in both regions.”
